The Grocery Bar is a very relaxed place and I enjoy playing there immensely. Reason being is I usually do it solo and I perform on the fly. Whilst my shows contain mainly original material, the Grocery Bar is a chance to play other people's songs in an intimate setting. I may pull out an obscure Alex Chilton song or a piece from the 1980s...though I won't play Rick Astley. Like Nick Lowe, I tend to think his hits are ghastly. You should come and meet my friend, John Leever, who is the owner. He's from New York but moved to Melbourne many years ago. He used to work at Festival Records and he can still recount a story or two about the joys of working in the music industry. Anyway, I hope to see you there and be sure to bring a friend and your your appetite (all day breakfast gets served at the Grocery Bar).
